Driver accused of intentionally plowing into couple, killing wife who joined husband on walk for first time: 'All I heard was the thump'
A crazed driver deliberately plowed his car into a couple enjoying an evening walk in Virginia, killing the wife — after calling 911 with threats to shoot a school, bomb a building and assault police officers,” according to cops.
Daniel Anderson, 22, has been charged with murdering mom of two Shaunda Bizzell, 42, on Monday — the first time she’d joined her husband, Derek Bizzell, on his regular evening stroll around their neighborhood in Chesterfield, according to WWBT.
The driver — who had a history of mental health issues, according to his dad — “intentionally steered” his 2012 Hyundai toward the innocent couple, police said.
The husband, who was also hospitalized, said he and his wife were on the second loop of their block when they spotted the car veering from the middle of the street straight at them. 5 Derek Bizzell, left, and his wife, Shaunda, right, were taking an evening walk together for the first time Monday when a car plowed into them, killing the woman. I could see him veer. I screamed her name, and all I heard was the thump,” he told the outlet.
The husband wound up underneath the car, while his wife landed on top. When he grabbed his phone to call 911 he was too shocked to be able to speak, but good Samaritans who rushed over to help took other and called in the deadly emergency.
Officers were already responding to the area because Anderson had called 911 and “made threatening statements,’ police said.
He “identified himself, and made multiple threatening statements, including threats to shoot a school, bomb a building, and assault police officers,” police said.
Shaunda, a married mom of two adult children, was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries. Her husband was also hurt in the collision but has since been released from the hospital.

Anderson’s father told WTVR that his son has been struggling with a mental health disorder and had an episode just hours before the tragedy.
Anderson’s dad said he and his son had an argument before the younger man stormed out of their home. The father claimed he didn’t know his son took the car keys with him.
Bizzell said he has not been sleeping or eating, and feeling “just numbness” since losing his beloved wife.
He added that while he has not forgiven the driver, I do pray for his family because Im pretty sure they are hurting the same way we are hurting right now, he said.
