45-year-old man fatally shot on subway in the Bronx
A 45-year-old man was shot dead on a Bronx subway early Friday, with police looking for three suspects who fled the train.
The unidentified straphanger was shot in the torso while riding the southbound D train as it pulled into the 182 -183 St. station at 5:02 a.m., the NYPD said.
Photos showed first responders attempting life-saving measures on the man on the side of the platform as the train was kept at the station. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said.
Three suspects were seen fleeing the train, the NYPD said, with no one currently in custody.
It remains unclear what may have led up to the fatal shooting.
B and D trains were forced to bypass the station in both directions while cops investigated, the MTA said, with commuters advised to instead use Bx1 or Bx2 buses. The man was shot on the D train at 182nd St. Friday.
He was then rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities are now looking for three suspects they said fled the train in the aftermath, though it is unclear whether they may have been involved in the shooting.
But police have not yet released details about any suspects, and it remains unclear what may have led up to the fatal shooting.
